Hi everyone, hope everything's cool, thought I'd better fill you in on what's been going on since the London Guitar Show:
Firstly, the London Show was great this year, probably the best ever and we all had an absolute blast as we always do. Our pal Nick 'Hitchcock' Bowcott came over on the Friday and opened with his Dimebag tribute like he did in Frankfurt, and jammed Losfer Words with us too. The demo room was packed out every show as always and then on the Sunday we did the main stage, we weren't sure how many people would be there because of the time of day, but we were chuffed to bits, thanks to everyone who came and saw us, also big thanks to Les and the sound crew (especially for coming up with the 'radio mic round the neck for Farid' idea), and Clive Morton, the organiser of the London Guitar Show. See ya there next year!!
A couple of weeks later we were in Shrewsbury for a Roadshow there. It's always a good show, around 300 every time. It was a shame it was just the one show, as we didn't get much time to hang out, Farid came in that day and went back the following. We narrowly missed being involved in an accident on the motorway too thanks to some foreign lorry driver... Thanks to all the guys in Shrewsbury, we had a lot of fun and I'm sure we'll see you again soon.
I was also in Brighton doing an in-store backing track thing, which was cool, and who should be there? Gary Moore!! No shit!! He's a friend of the guy who runs the shop, very cool guy, we were talking for quite a while. A week later I went up the road to Milton Keynes to see the 'Monsters Of Rock'. It was a cool day out, I went with Steve, Jim's driver, and hooked up with a few of the other guys from Marshall there. I only really went to see Journey, who, believe it or not I'm a huge fan of, so is Farid. They were great and Steve Augeri, the 'new' singer was on great form, as were the rest of the band, 2nd song in they did Stone In Love, one of my all time favourites I didn't think they played live very much. Totally cool, and even better I met them all briefly afterwards so I was well pleased.
Then the week after that was Download at Donington, I couldn't make the Saturday which if you ask me had the best bill but I wanted to go on Sunday just to see the 'Axl Rose Band' (no, I'm not gonna call 'em GnR, they're my all time favourite band and it takes more than just him to make it). We watched Axl and the band come out of their dressing room to get the bus to the stage, and Jesus, anybody would have thought he was fuckin' Snoop Dog....They played pretty well and his voice was better than I thought it would be. He threw a couple of on stage strops too at the monitor guy, some things never change I guess...
So we're off to Stafford next week for Rock The Gatehouse, it's like a battle of the bands, we'll be judging it and playing in the break, so email your backhanders here! Just kidding!!
See ya soon
