Ok, so here it is! Much apologies for not keeping up to date with these journals, Im still trying to work out where 2007 went...
We had a great end to the year, we returned to Nantes, France, and Moscow for the third time which was awesome, and just when we thought we couldnt beat the last trip, we did, but theres just some things I cant tell you, lets just say it was certainly a memorable one! Then we did Guitarfest in Birmingham, a load of other shows including about 8 Marshall Roadshows in the south of the UK which were all great, plus Music Live in Birmingham where this year we had the infamous booth on the stand, which is great because we can make as much noise as we want. Kerry King was there too, and he did his guitar abuse clinics in the booth which were hugely popular (I think the tickets for the Saturday were gone in about 3 minutes of the show opening). It was cool to see Kerry again, we hadnt seen him since the Frankfurt show back in March, and hes obviously stoked to be part of the Marshall family with his awesome signature head. We had some friends get up with us for the last show of Music Live, my old pal Phil Hilborne and our friend Matt Smith from the big apple, we had a cool jam going on....Our last show of the year was in France again, this time Toulouse for a big anniversary show for a massive music shop out there held in a big theatre, a massive thanks to Algam who really looked after us, and also to my dear friend Michel Chavarria from LAG Guitars. I got my new one while I was out there, an Imperator model, which is just incredible, youll be seeing a lot of that guitar this year....
So, onto Waysted related things. The album is selling really well, it got voted 26th best album of the year by Classic Rock which was really cool considering the company we shared in that poll. I think that made it 4 months on the trot that we made it in Classic Rock along with reviews and interviews in previous issues. If you havent heard the album yet, why the hell not?! We all gathered in Birmingham at the beginning of December for a bit of filming and to run through some of the new songs. We hadnt all played together since we recorded the album back in August so it was cool, we made it an open house too so we had some fans turn up. Also Blaze Bailey came over and we did a version of...wait for it....Youve Lost That Loving Feeling, but really rocked up, kind of like we did with Handbags & Gladrags on the album. It was a lot of fun and Blaze is a really good guy and a good sport for doing it, cheers mate!
Christmas was all good with the usual gatherings of friends and family, it was good to see some friends I hadnt seen in a while (Tank I never know what youre doing because you dont keep up your journals Montana) and New Years Eve was spent with Farid, Rob, our wives and kids and some other good friends, which was a brilliant night, well until Rob got the Baluga vodka from Russia out, and it was all of blur from then on. Lets just say I didnt feel that good for my birthday the following day....
Theres some Waysted tour dates already in for March and theres more to come, also the Frankfurt show with Marshall, which is a bit earlier this year. Marshall are taking out another special guest to do a slot in the booth, which Id love to tell you who it is, but youre going to have to wait, but he is one awesome player. Ive already begun recording demos for the next Waysted album, so here we go again....
