Hi guys, just to let you know we had a great time in Newcastle at the weekend. It was totally cool to be back into it, to see all the guys from Marshall and most importantly to be playing together again!
Farid got in around 11am on Saturday, we hooked up with Rob and headed up to Newcastle and met up with Jim, Zena, Victoria, Paul, Steve and Keith. We went to an Italian we go to every year, which is always great then some of us headed to a rock bar called Trillions which was a totally cool hang out, then we headed back to the hotel bar for a wee nightcap. It was especially good to see Jim again, he wasn't very well just before Christmas but he's making a great recovery and it certainly hasn't affected his sense of humour.
We got up early Sunday to go and set our stuff up for the show, we were all totally psyched, the last show we played was at the Marshall Christmas Party back in December. We had 2 slots, one at 11:15am and another at 3:15pm. Both were great but the first one was really special, to be doing it all again after what seemed like a lifetime. Thanks to everyone who came and saw, it was a great turnout for both shows and the Newcastle crowd are always good for a laugh.
So, the name change thing.... At the shows we do, although we have been going under the 'Marshall Band' name, we still get billed as the 'Chris George Band' or just 'Chris George', so it made sense to adjust it slightly, I guess it gives us more independance as we're looking to branch out a bit more this year, and with the album coming out soon (still waiting..) it ties up quite nicely I guess. It's certainly not an ego thing though!!!! I never wanted this much resonsibility ha ha! It doesn't make any difference though to what we do with Marshall, it'll carry on the same, and I'm sure you'll still see us billed as The Marshall Band for some events....
So, we're out to Frankfurt in 2 weeks and we can't wait. It was a great show last year and this year will be even better I'm sure. My pal Nick Bowcott is coming out from NY, he works for Marshall in the states and used to be in a band called Grim Reaper. He's a great guy and will be opening for us with a backing track thing on some shows, and getting up to do Losfer Words with us. Also, the guitarist from Accept will be there doing a backing track thing before us on the shows Nick doesn't do. So it's gonna be a busy old time. We'll be doing 4 shows a day again this year plus the Marshall party at the hotel.
Also, I just got word today that we'll be doing a slot on the main stage at the London Guitar Show in May. Our slot is on the Sunday at 11:50am, plus we'll be in the Severn Suite for the other days too as last year.
See ya soon,
